We may only have one litter per year but choosing the right homes for our puppies is not a decision made lightly. Our Dachshunds are family members. As a prospective dog owner, you must have the time, finances, and commitment to own a dog. We like to get to know you prior to the placement of a puppy and believe in a continued relationship throughout your dog’s life. We believe in promoting responsible dog ownership and breeding, and the best way to do this is screening our families by the completion of a Waiting List Questionnaire. Once we have a suitable puppy for allocation, each family will have an individual sales contract. This contract protects us as the breeder, you as the buyer and most importantly your new puppy.

Creating super puppies with early neurological stimulation and socialization

During a time of rapid neurological growth and development from day third to sixteenth, we conduct neurological stimulation exercises. We have adopted the methods of Breeding Better Dogs developed by Dr. Carmen Battaglia who is a breeder, judge, seminar presenter and AKC board member. The method involves five exercises which last 3-5 seconds each, which are conducted each day from day three of life to day sixteen and none of which naturally occur during this early period of life. The first exercise is tactile stimulation, by touching paw pads/ between the toes using a q tip. The second is head held erect, the third is head pointed down, the fourth is placing the puppy in supine position, and the fifth is thermal stimulation by a wet cool towel.

Our puppies are exposed to children, people, toys, and other animals on a regular basis. As well as this a range of noises including radio, television, and car rides. Pups that are handled early and on a regular basis generally do not become hand shy as adults.

General health care and inclusions

Our Puppies are wormed at two, four, six and eight weeks of age. Nails are cut once a week and puppies have their first bath between three to four weeks of age and generally once weekly from here as puppies get messy from activities.

Puppies receive their first lot of vaccinations a micro-chipped between six and seven weeks of age.

As reasonably as we can, we post or send pictures and video updates of your puppy.

Keepsake

In memory of our time together, our puppies have a professional photoshoot in Perth by the wonderful Lana Pratt. These photos are placed onto a UBS or emailed to you, which make beautiful pictures for your family home. Lana has capture many beautiful shots available on our gallery.
